Newmont Recognized for Corporate Responsibility

We are humbled to announce our 20th place ranking on Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2019. Newmont was the only mining company named in the top 20, and was one of two mining companies to make this year’s rankings.

Since 1999, the 100 Best Corporate Citizens has ranked the environmental, social and governance disclosure and performance of the 1,000 largest U.S. companies. Now in its 20th year, the 100 Best Corporate Citizens is determined annually, based on 134 disclosure and performance factors in seven categories: climate change, employee relations, environment, finance, governance, human rights, and stakeholders and society.

Last fall, the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index named Newmont the mining sector leader for a fourth consecutive year. Newmont’s grade for the 2018 CDP (formerly Climate Disclosure Project) Climate Change questionnaire increased from a “B” in 2017 to an “A-” last year. In Bloomberg’s 2019 Gender-Equality Index, Newmont was one of 230 companies named, achieving a score of 84 out of 100 – above the average of 73. Last year, Newmont was one of the Drucker Institute and Wall Street Journal’s top 250 best managed companies, owing in large part to high scores in social responsibility.

Newmont is honored to have our standards and practices recognized by an organization dedicated to advancing sustainability and corporate transparency. Read more about our CSR initiatives in our annual sustainability report, Beyond the Mine.
